Weber‘s vivid depiction of demonic powers in the overture to his wildly popular opera Der Freischütz is also included in the program, along with a youthful work by one of the most successful alumni of the WNMF Composer Institute, Chinese-Canadian composer Roydon Tse.
WSO principal trombonist Steven Dyer performs a trombone concerto by Nino Rota–a composer known more for his film scores from movies like The Godfather, than his orchestral works. We’ll also hear a symphony by French composer Bizet written when he was just 17.
