Johannes Brahms admired Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart so much so that in his final years, he reportedly declared Mozart as the ‘greatest composer that ever lived’, even collecting first editions and autographs of Mozart’s works. The WSO’s Gwen Hoebig and Daniel Scholz are put in the spotlight with Mozart’s famous Sinfonia concertante, followed by Brahm’s sumptuously beautiful and relaxing Serenade No. 2 in A Major.

Due to the current travel restrictions and quarantine requirements, James Ehnes will no longer be able to join the WSO for this concert to perform Beethoven’s Violin Concerto as originally programmed. Based on current health and safety guidelines, the WSO is also reducing the number of musicians allowed on stage. Due to these added safety precautions, we regrettably are unable to perform Beethoven’s 5th due to the number of musicians required to perform this piece. We hope to reschedule Beethoven’s 5th at a later date.
