“The West End Cultural Centre is elated to collaborate with Jazz Winnipeg for Cookin’: Local Music, Local Food. Our organizations have a long relationship and we’re excited to work together to welcome so many talented and diverse musicians to the WECC stage,” said Jorge Requena Ramos, Artistic Director at the WECC. “In light of ongoing COVID-19 guidelines, audience members will be able to enjoy dinner and a show knowing our commitment to safety and physical distancing protocols.”

“We’re honoured to partner with the West End Cultural Centre to further our commitment to showcasing local artists and highlight local restaurants and chefs,” said Michael Wolch, Jazz Winnipeg’s Artistic Producer. “It’s an opportunity for Winnipeggers to catch a great show and dine on fabulous food with a line-up that includes soul, Latin, folk, and jazz performances in a safe and classy dinner theatre environment.”

As a pillar of the West End community, Feast Cafe Bistro’s menu features modern dishes rooted in traditional First Nations food. Additional culinary partners will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

To maintain appropriate physical distancing, seating for this series is limited with only 50 tickets available for each event. Guests will be welcomed at 5:30pm with dinner served at 6:00pm and music starting at 6:30pm. Tickets are $60.00 and include dinner and one drink.

With influences from her African heritage, la chanson française, and American gospel, Kelly Bado’s music is an intoxicating blend of soul, world and pop. This World Music Artist of the Year (Western Canadian Music Awards, 2018) crosses cultural barriers to bring people together in joy and hope. Her striking vocals and uplifting melodies make for a performance that stays with the audience long after the show is over.

Whether receiving public accolades from Sir Paul McCartney as a semi-finalist on La voix, or rocking showcases at the International Folk Alliance in New Orleans, Kelly Bado takes nothing for granted. She is a hard-working artist, dedicated to her craft, and committed to bringing a positive message through her music to as large and diverse an audience as possible. Her new album Hey Terre is set for release October 30, 2020 as part of the series Cookin’: Local Music, Local Food with the West End Cultural Centre and Jazz Winnipeg.
